Technical Needs
The tests and exercises in Visualization Assessment and Training can be run
on the Web using Windows computers. Your Windows computer must have:
- Web browser software: Netscape 4.0 or higher
or Internet Explorer 4.0 or higher
- Javascript enabled in the browsers (Note: Browsers
above have Javascript enabled unless you
manually disable Javascript.)
- Authorware Web Player (formerly Shockwave
for Authorware)
- QuickTime Player version 4.0 or above
Authorware
Web Player is a free web browser plug-in which is an add-on to your web
browser software (Netscape or Internet Explorer). Authorware Web Player
plays Authorware files created for the web. For browser, i.e., Netscape,
select the appropriate
Authorware Player version. If you are using If you have problems,
download the latest version of Internet Explorer.
QuickTime plays
movies within your browser.
To get started with the program, perform Check 1 & 2.

to test whether you already have Authorware Web Player. If needed,
this page will direct you to a Macromedia site where you'll get the
right version of the software for your browser and platform/operating
system (e.g., Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, etc.).

page to test whether you have QuickTime 4.0 installed. Movies
embedded in Authorware will not play without QuickTime version 4.0 or
greater installed on your PC. If you need to download the QuickTime
player, this page
will take you to the Apple site where you can download the latest
version of QuickTime.
